Not sure how to best accommodate your child’s virtual school program? We are here to help!

Colorado Adventure Point (CAP) is pleased to offer weekly full-day academic support, enrichment and programming for students! Through this program, we are offering live supplemental instructors for the duration of your child’s online school day. Afternoons will entail recreational and educational programming until the end of the day. Before and aftercare are available and CAP also has computers for use.

What: This is a full-day daycare alternative with qualified instructors for both virtual school time and recreational activities after the conclusion of the school day.

Where: Donald E. Scott Colorado Adventure Point is located at 10455 W. 6th Avenue in Lakewood, CO. This program takes place in-person at our site.

When: The core program runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with before and aftercare options available from 7:00 - 8:00 a.m. and from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. This is currently being offered for the weeks of August 24th and August 31st and September 8th with plans to extend for the remainder of the school year if necessary.

Why: In this unprecedented time, we understand the stress of families trying to juggle work, school and extracurricular activities with their children. CAP is here to serve your family through our all-in-one child care option.

How: Check in will begin at 7:45 a.m. Temperature and wellness checks will be done upon arrival, following CDC guidelines. Your child will be supported by our staff for the duration of their virtual school day. The afternoons will have approximately three hours of recreational, creative or academic activities, as noted in the example schedule. Check out will start at 4:00 and run until 4:15 p.m. This program costs $45 per day. Before and aftercare are an additional $20 per day. Laptops can be reserved for free, please let us know if you are interested.

What else: Children must fill out and submit the BSA Health Form Parts A & B and bring a sack lunch and a beverage. To ensure that your child can participate in all activities, it is best to wear closed toed shoes, pants or shorts.

FAQs

  • How is CAP basing protocols related to youth programming with COVID-19?

We are following the protocols recommended by the CDC, State of Colorado Department of Public Health, and American Camp Association. We are within Jefferson County and will therefore follow their protocols.

  • Are you requiring masks?

It is currently required by law in the state of Colorado that any child over the age of 10 years old must wear a mask. Children under 10 years of age are strongly encouraged but it is not mandatory.

  • Are you checking temperatures, or requiring parents to check temperatures before camp?

Yes, we have a temperature scanner that reads temperatures from foreheads. This will be done at drop off (which will take place in front of the building, before entering). A staff member will be receiving arrivals at the front of the building. We ask that parents do not enter the building.

  • How will you group the children? Will they interact with other groups?

Each group of youth that enters our facility will be kept in cohorts according to their age. Per Jefferson County Public Health recommendations, we will have the children in groups of 12 for indoor activities. This ratio will be upheld for the afternoon activity time as well, with groups rotating between rooms throughout the day and/or week after the spaces are properly cleaned.

  • Can my child be in the same group as their sibling or friend?

Yes. If you would like your child to be with another registered participant, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

  • Will CAP be limiting kids sharing tools or other communal surfaces?

All tools, materials, classrooms, etc. will be cleaned between single user use. Materials, spaces, etc. will be cleaned according to CDC guidelines.
